FA Cup Quarter Final’s Preview – Part 1 Posted On 19 March 2021

Eight teams battle it out for a place in the Wembley semi-finals this weekend…

This weekend sees a break from the seemingly non-stop Premier League action as eight teams battle it out to go to the next round in the oldest cup competition in world football. However, with seven teams from the top division still involved, each game will be a hard-fought battle with some big clubs still involved.

Sat 20th March (12.15 pm KO) BT Sport 1

Bournemouth v Southampton

Bournemouth (the only non-Premier League club left) will face local rivals Southampton in a south coast derby in the early game on Saturday. The Saints have struggled for form this season, yet, despite having the second-worst defensive record in the league – they have lost 9-0 twice! – are still seven points clear of relegation.

Bournemouth are pushing for an immediate return to the Premier League after relegation last year, however, will have to get through the play-offs to do so. Jonathan Woodgate has been officially in charge since mid-February, which has coincided with an upturn in form.

Predicted result: Bou 2 – 1 Sou

Everton v Man City

Since being written off earlier this season, Pep Guardiola’s side has been a machine rolling over everyone in their wake (except their Manchester rivals). They are 14 points clear and look set to reclaim their Premier League crown within the next few weeks, which gives Pep the opportunity to field a strong side in this tie.

Everton sit seventh in the league on equal points with Liverpool with a game in hand. Since Carlo Ancelotti took over, the blues have looked like a well-drilled machine capable of matching anyone on their day. But with an unprecedented quadruple on the cards, they will have their work cut out against City.

Predicted result: Eve 0 – 3 Man C
